How to make decision on Access control selection

1. At present, for all of the fingerprint machines with built-in access control function, manufacturers are not very professional. Therefore, their access control function can only meet the general needs. If you need apply the function to professional occasions, please use our access control panel.

2. For Fingerprint Time Attendance machine, there are generally three kinds of access control signal output: lock signal output, the switch signal output, Wiegand signal output. Speaking from the security, Wigan signal output is the most safe, switch signal output is better than lock signal output. Common user would choose switch signal output model. Our machines are typically equipped with two kinds of access control signal output: Wiegand output, the switch signal output. For detailed information, please contact with our sales staff.

3. The advantages and disadvantages of three output models:

Lock signal output mode:
In this mode, fingerprint time attendance & access control machine connects with electric locks directly, to control electric locks. This mode is very convenient, but it will cause following problems:
A. When time attendance & access control machine is working at low voltages, it may be difficult for time attendance & access control machine and locks to work normally at the same time. And this will lead to access control system abnormalities, such as the lock can be opened automatically without user authentication, or lock and time attendance & access control machine do not work normally.
 B. Once fingerprint time attendance & access control machine is halted, the lock will be locked up. Then inside and outside people cannot open the door, but has to remove the fingerprint time attendance & access control machine to make the system work normally.
 C. For different electric locks with different features, if the electric lock has relatively large recoil current, it will directly burn out attendance access control machine.
 D. Due to the limited power support, fingerprint time attendance & access control machine cannot connect to electric locks with larger power or other devices.
 E. Security assurances are not good. Generally, it is easy to break down power supply of the time attendance & access control machine, then the lock can be opened automatically when there is no power.

Switch signal output mode:
In this mode, it is impossible to connect to electric locks directly and to make electric locks work. While, using professional access control power supply, the lock connects with professional access control power supply directly. There will not be problems but more advantages:
A. Fingerprint time attendance & access control machine can get power from professional access control power supply, and control the switch of locks together with other similar controllers, such as video intercom systems.
B. Professional access control power supply can provide greater power support, it is also OK to choose the power supply with storage battery. So that the fingerprint time attendance & access control machine and lock can work for more than 8 hours when sudden power cut, while the power supply can automatically charge for storage battery when there is electricity.
C. There is more extensive use, such as the control of automatic doors, strobe and other automatical facilities, not just electric lock.


Wiegand signal output mode:
This is used in occasions required high-end security, such as: prisons, banking, treasury and so on. In this mode, it cannot directly connect with electric locks or access control power supply to work, there must be an access control panel. The access control panel is generally installed indoor, equal to dual verification. One is fingerprint time attendance and access control machine, another is access control panel indoor. This mode is generally an extention or upgrade of fingerprint verification for the previous password verification or smart card verification, or the smart card + password verification access control systems. Fingerprint verification has more unique advantages, primarily in this mode, Fingerprint Time Attendance serves as a role of the reader.

4. General configuration

  • Lock signal output mode:
    Fingerprint Time Attendance & Access Control Machine + Electric Lock
  • Switch signal output mode:
    Fingerprint Time Attendance & Access Control Machine+ Access Control Power + Electric Lock
  • Wigand signal output mode:
    Fingerprint Time Attendance & Access Control Machine + Access Control Panel + Access Control Power + Electric Lock
